Incident # 25-09944 - An adult male received severe injuries in a semi-truck accident on Sunrise Road at Yamacraw Driver, Tuesday morning 16-December at 09:25. The truck suffered a suspected mechanical failure which caused the driver to lose control. The vehicle flipped over and rolled onto its roof causing heavy damage. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was able to crawl out of the damaged truck. He was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, who called for a medical helicopter. CARE Flight responded and flew the man to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The accident is being investigated by the SC Hwy Patrol and State Transport Police.
Engine 7, Engine 17, Medic 18 and Car 110 responded. Engineer-Paramedic Daniel Barb served as Incident Commander.
