Incident # 26-00825 - An motorist was critically injured when the motorcycle collided with a semi-truck that was being towed on Interstate 95 near the 61 mile marker southbound Saturday morning 31-Janaury at 02:02. Firefighter-Paramedics found the operator semi-conscious laying in the median with multiple traumatic injuries. The patient was quickly treated at the scene. The CARE Flight helicopter could not fly due to poor weather conditions, so the Flight crew responded to the scene and assisted with patient care. They assisted during the transport to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. The truck driver was not injured. The accident is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol.
Engine 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as incident Commander.
