Incident # 26-00826 - A motorist was critically injured in a single vehicle MVC in the 3400 block of Sidneys Road just south of Welch Creek Road Saturday morning 31-January at 03:15. The Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling north bound on Sidneys Road when it failed to negotiate a curve. The truck crossed into the south bound ditch, struck two driveway culverts and collided with a large pine tree before overturning, trapping the driver. A neighbor heard the collision and alerted 9-1-1. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived quickly and forced open the passenger door to gain access to the injured driver. The patient was treated at the scene and extricated with spinal precautions. Fire-Rescue Medic 19 transported him emergent to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC.
Engine 19, Medic 19, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
