31/January/2026 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift Incident # 26-00833 - A camper with an attached addition which was used as a residence was destroyed in an afternoon fire Saturday 31-Janaury at 12:54. The home was located on a single lane dirt road at 129 Faulkenberry Road off of Mt. Carmel Road. Walterboro Fire Dept was initially dispatched to the location, but the home was found to be in the County's jurisdiction. City Firefighters deployed two handlines and notified Fire-Rescue. Both agencies worked for several hours to extinguish the fire which contained a large fire load. A back hoe was eventually brought to the scene by the County Public Works to assist with the overhaul of the building. No injuries were reported. Water supply was conducted with County Tenders. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Walterboro Fire units, Fire-Rescue Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender, 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 105 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as incident Commander. |
