25/February/2026 -20-Acre Woods Fire - "C" Shift Incident # 26-01583 - Firefighters worked for three hours to contain an approximately 20 acre woods fire in the 16700 block of Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63) Wednesday afternoon 25-Feb. The initial incident was reported to 9-1-1 at 13:12. Engine 15 arrived a short time later to find the rapidly spreading woods fire driven by high winds that endangered several homes in the area. The fire spread to nearby Murdaugh Ave, endangering additional homes. Engine 15 requested additional resources twice and two tractors from the Forestry Commission. Fire Apparatus was positioned near several residences to protect the homes from the fire. Firefighters used Brush Trucks, Deck Guns, multiple handlines and hand tools to contain the fire. Both Forestry Tractors plowed fire lines around the perimeter of the fire. No homes were damaged during the incident. The cause of the fire is believed to be a trash pile that was spread by the high winds. Engine 1, Engine 4, Engine 15, Engine 18, Tender 15, Tender 18, Tender 23, Brush 8, Brush 27, Medic 26, Battalion 1, C103, Car 112 and Car 115 responded.
