05/March/2026 - MVC w/Critical Injuries - "C" Shift Incident # 26-01799 - A 21 yr old adult was critically injured when the suspected disabled vehicle was struck by another car on ACE Basin Parkway near Clover Hill Road Thursday afternoon 05-March at 15:33. The pickup truck which was pulling a trailer was stopped on the southbound edge of the busy highway. It appeared the patient was possibly under the trailer when it was struck. All three vehicles received heavy damage. The driver of the Lexus ran back to the trailer and pulled the patient from under the trailer. The driver administered aid until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The patient suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including a head injury and a nearly amputated arm. Responders quickly treated at the scene, then transported emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Fire-Rescue Medic 6. Two additional Firefighter-Paramedics assisted with patient care during transport to MUSC. Medic 13 also responded and treated the driver of the Lexus for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus denied ambulance transport to a hospital. One lane of southbound ACE Basin Parkway was blocked for two hours. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Engine 6, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1 and Car 107 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander. |
