29/March/2026 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 26-02576 - A mother and child narrowly escaped a fire that damaged their home Sunday morning 29-March at 06:10. The fire occurred in the 200 block of Sixth Street. The woman was awakened by smoke and discovered the room was on fire. She grabbed the infant from a crib and exited the burning building to call 9-1-1. Engine 19 arrived to find smoke coming from the front door of the singlewide mobile home. Firefighter-Paramedics entered through the front door with one handline and quickly extinguished the fire, containing the majority of the damage to the bedroom. The remainder of the home suffered smoke damage, but most personal items were saved. The two occupants were not injured. It appeared the fire started from a space heater that ignited nearby clothing. Fire-Rescue units were on the scene for an hour.

Engine 1, Engine 19, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Medic 26, Car 118 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
