Incident # 26-02589 - A fast moving woods fire destroyed approximately 10 acres of young pines at the corner of Sunrise Road (SC Hwy. 217) and Bent Gate Lane Sunday afternoon 29-March at 16:30. Engine 7 arrived to find the large fire and requested additional stations and Forestry for assistance. Firefighters protected structures in the area, while the Forestry Tractor cut fire lines around the fire. Dry conditions, low humidity and high winds spread the flames. Crews made efforts to prevent the fire from jumping Sunrise Road. Fire-Rescue Units were on the scene for three hours.
Engine 7, Engine 17, Engine 18, Engine 27, Tender 7, Brush 27, Brush 36, Medic 7, Medic 18 and Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-EMT Dalton Sweatt served as Incident Commander.
