21/April/2026 - Structure / Woods Fire - “A” Shift

Incident # 26-03374 - Fire-Rescue responded to the 700 block of Bedon Road for a reported grass fire. C114, who was returning from another fire in the Cottageville area, arrived on scene just minutes after dispatch and noted a doublewide mobile home with fire on the A/D corner and an uncontrolled grass fire. A structure fire response was requested. After completing a 360 the incident commander noted the fire was rapidly spreading into the wooded area beside the home, threatening additional structures. Engine 19 arrived on scene and deployed hoselines to attack the house fire. Crews made entry through the “A” door and quickly knocked down the fire. Fire crews were able to contain the woods fire while interior crews extinguished the home. The suspected cause of the fire was an unattended burn pile.
Residents are reminded the State Foresters Burn Ban remains in effect. Not only are these incidents keeping firefighters extremely busy, it’s a crime to start a fire under a burn ban. This incident was 1 of the 14 vegetation fires Fire-Rescue responded to on 21-April.
