11/June/2026 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 26-04910 - At 14:25 11-June, 9-1-1 was notified of a second structure fire across from 1910 Van Dyke Road near Cottageville. Some units were released from the structure fire on Augusta Hwy to respond to the location. The caller responded the building was abandoned. Engine 9 arrived to find the single story, approx. 2000 sq. ft block structure fully involved. The roof had already collapsed and the woods around the building were also on fire. The building was well off of the road and the area was overgrown, making access difficult. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline to the building and contacted the Forestry Commission to send a tractor. Crews knocked down the remaining fire and the Forestry Commission cut a fire line around the perimeter of the fire. The home was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine 1, Engine 9, Tender 9, Tender 19, Medic 9 and Car 104 responded. Battalion Chief Joseph Campbell served as Incident Commander.
