Incident# 26-07156 - A Ruffin home was heavily damaged in an evening fire Sunday 23-August at 20:27. Engine 1 arrived to the 200 block of Joye St. to find heavy smoke conditions coming from all sides of the doublewide mobile home and flames extending through the roof. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and two crews worked on the interior until the roof collapsed in the center of the home forcing firefighters to exit the building for a short period. An exterior attacked was executed until the flames were dispelled enough to reenter the building. The fire was mainly in the attic space and had run the entire length of the mobile home. Most of the interior of the home was not damaged until the roof collapsed. The home owner advised they had experienced some electrical problems earlier in the evening but noticed smoke and flames in the attic area approximately two hours later. The two occupants were able to safely exit the structure. Fire crews were on the scene for four and half hours. Water supply was conducted using Tenders. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
