27/August/2026 - Drowning Incident - "B" Shift


Incident # 26-07273 - An adult male drown in the Edisto River Thursday evening 27-August at 17:35. The initial report to 9-1-1 advised the adult was swimming in the Edisto River, went under the water and never came up. Fire-Rescue responded with boats and divers to the location at the end of Cannon Road. A second call to 9-1-1 advised bystanders had recovered the victim and pulled him shore. The patient was unconscious and not breathing. 9-1-1 Operators coached the callers on how to perform CPR, which was done until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. Crews diligently worked to resuscitate the patient, but sadly they did not survive. The Coroner's and Sheriff's Offices are investigating the incident. 


Engine 19, Medic 19, Dive 1, Marine 1, Battalion 1 and Car 110 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
