27/February/2017 – Structure and Woods Fire – “C” Shift

At 18:11, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to smoke in the area of Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) and Powder Horn Road. Engine 26 reported seeing smoke off of Misty Ridge Lane which runs off of Powder Horn Road. Upon investigation, Firefighters found a large woods fire which had burned approximately 40 acres. A forestry tractor was requested. Click here for more information.

26/February/2017 – Woods and Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Colleton Firefighters were kept busy Sunday afternoon with multiple woods fires, some that spread to vehicles or buildings. Firefighters prevented the flames from reaching several homes, however one home, a storage building and a truck at three different locations were destroyed. Fire-Rescue was on scene at seven different fires were between 13:30 and 16:00. County firefighters and Forestry Commission tractors spent hours containing the fires. 25/February/2017 – Fatal MVC w/ejection – “A” Shift

A 55 yr old Florida woman died in a single car crash on I-95 near the 56 mile marker southbound Saturday afternoon 25-February. At 13:34, Colleton 9-1-1 received several reports of a small southbound pickup truck leaving the roadway at a high rate of speed and overturning several times. 23/February/2017 – Career Day at Colleton Middle School

Fire-Rescue was one of several dozen agencies and local businesses who participated in the a career fair held for eight grade students at Colleton Middle School Thursday morning 23-February. Approximately 700 students visited the booths during the three hour morning display. The fair gave students an opportunity to view different careers and discuss future employment options with personnel from those fields. 21/February/2017 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

An Estates Drive home was heavily damaged in an early morning fire, Tuesday 21-February. At 00:46, Colleton 9-1-1 Operators received several reports of smoke and flames coming from a residence located at 468 Estates Drive. An off duty firefighter who lives one block away arrived a minute later and reported flames through the roof with approximately 50% of the home involved. Click here for more information.

19/February/2017 – Commercial Structure Fire – “A” Shift

A 22:03, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at the Dollar General Store located at 11051 Cottageville Hwy (US Hwy 17-A) Sunday evening 19-February. Engine 9 arrived to find the building full of smoke and dark black smoke coming from the front doors and extending across the ceiling. 18/February/2017 – Camper Fire – “C” Shift

A camper, which was being used as a residence, was destroyed in a midday fire at 58 LaFrance Court off of Hiers Corner Road Saturday afternoon 18-February at 13:54. The camper was well involved when Engine 26 arrived. Flames threatened a nearby residence and two vehicles. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 1-3/4 handline, quickly knocking down the flames. 16/February/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift 

Firefighters quickly contained a fire in a structure at 224 Friendship Street Thursday afternoon 16-February. At 17:10, Fire-Rescue was sent to the location on a report of smoke and flames coming from the residence. Engine 19 arrived to find the front of the doublewide mobile home well involved. Fire had already entered the attic space above the front door. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, entered the building through the front door and contained the fire to two front rooms. Click here for more information.

16/February/2017 – 10 acre Woods-Grass Fire – “A” Shift

County and Forestry Firefighters contained a 10 acre field and woods fire Thursday afternoon 16-February at 13:36. Engine 36 arrived to find a fast moving grass fire in a broom straw field in the 18900 block of Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61). The fire was driven by high winds and threatening four structures. The grass/straw was five feet high and reached a wooded area east of the field. Engine 36 requested assistance. Click here for more information.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue will conduct pre-employment testing (PET) for interested Firefighter/Paramedics on March 22-24, 2017.  Click here for more information. 

14/February/2017 – MVC with entrapment – “A” Shift

Two people were injured in a three car MVC at the intersection of Bells Hwy (SC Hwy 64) and Robertson Blvd Tuesday morning 14-February at 07:10. A 19 yr. old female was transported by Medic 19 with minor injuries to Colleton Medical Center. An adult female was trapped in a separate small SUV which collided with the other two vehicles. Her car was pushed against a construction trailer that was stopped at the traffic signal. No one was injured in the construction truck. Click here for more information.

08/February/2017 – MVC with Entrapment – “B” Shift

An adult female received non-life threatening injuries in a single car MVC on Charleston Hwy (SC Hwy 64) just west of Ritter Road. The east bound vehicle left the roadway in a curve, over corrected and skidded into the west bound ditch. The car encountered a deep mud bank and appeared to have flipped over. The driver was not able to exit the vehicle. Two dogs were also in the car. One receive minor injuries. Click here for more information.

07/February/2017 – MVC with Entrapment – “C” Shift 

Two people were injured, one critically, in a single car high speed MVC on I-95 near the 42 mile marker southbound, Tuesday morning 07-February at 03:48. The 1997 Nissan Pathfinder left the highway, drove down the right side embankment and struck a large tree. The impact caused heavy damage to the small SUV trapping both occupants. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station # 13 arrived minutes later to find the passenger heavily entrapped with life threatening injuries. Click here for more information.

05/February/2017 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

A Springtown home was heavily damaged in an afternoon fire Sunday 05-February. At 18:32, Colleton 9-1-1 Operators received multiple reports of a building on fire at 8947 Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61). Callers reported fire coming from the back and roof of the building with several nearby homes endangered. Battalion 1 arrived 7 minutes later to find the single story wood frame dwelling heavily involved with fire visible from the roof and most of the rear of the structure in flames.
