30/January/2018 – MVC with HazMat – “C” Shift
A tractor trailer hauling a chemical trailer left the roadway and crashed
into a creek on I-95 southbound near the 56 mile marker Tuesday morning
30-January at 02:44. The truck struck the guard rail and bridge before going
down the embankment and jack knifing against a bridge pillar. The insulated
trailer struck several trees causing damage to the trailer. Both diesel
tanks were breached spilling a large amount of diesel fuel on the highway

26/January/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift
A Johnsville home was destroyed in a mid-day fire on Friday 26-January. At
11:54, 9-1-1 was notified that the home was ablaze. Engine 17 arrived a few
minutes later to find the home approximately 60% involved with flames
through the roof. The rear of the building had already collapsed.
Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to combat the fire, which
had also spread to the nearby woods. Click here

24/January/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift
A Longleaf Subdivision home was destroyed in an early morning fire Wednesday
24-January. At 04:08, a caller to 9-1-1 reported seeing flames coming from
the roof and hearing glass breaking in the two story residential structure
located at 262 Lakewood Drive. Firefighters arrived minutes later to find
the home fully involved. It had been burning for some time before anyone
discovered the fire. The home was located in the back of the subdivision on

24/January/2018 – Fatal MVC – “C” Shift
A 57 yr old Bamberg County man was killed in a single car MVC in the 100
block of Lowcountry Highway Wednesday morning 24-January. This is the fourth
fatal accident to occur in Colleton County since the beginning of the new
year. At 02:36, a truck driver discovered the over-turned 2000 Mercury
passenger car off the roadway near the wood line. The car received heavy

20 & 21/January/2018 – Woods Fires – “B” Shift
Multiple woods fires kept Firefighters busy throughout the
day Saturday 20-Janaury and Sunday 21-January. Dry conditions and light
winds contributed to the rapid spread of several of the Fires. Three outside
storage buildings and their contents were destroyed. Three other storage
buildings were damaged along with a garage and an apartment which both had
the vinyl siding melted as a result of the fires. Click

15/January/2018 – High Speed MVC with Air Evac – “C” Shift
Three people were injured, one critically, in a single car, high speed MVC
in the 5100 block of Combahee Road at the entrance to Cherokee Plantation
Monday morning 15-January at 00:28. The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling
southbound on Combahee Road at a high rate of speed, when it failed to
negotiate a curve. The car left the roadway, cross the ditch and struck a

10/January/2018 – Fatal MVC with entrapment & Air Evac –
“A” Shift
At 00:17, Wednesday morning 10-January, Colleton 9-1-1 received several
reports about a box style truck that had left the roadway and struck several
trees near the 43 mile marker northbound. Medic 13 arrived minutes later
advising the vehicle had massive damage and several trees were on top of the
truck. They had one critical patient outside the vehicle and the driver was
unconscious, heavily entrapped in the wreckage. Click

08/January/2018 – Fatal MVC with entrapment – “C” Shift
A truck driver was killed in a single vehicle, high speed MVC on I-95 near
the 42 mile marker southbound Monday evening 08-January at 20:34. Witnesses
advised the southbound truck veered off of the roadway, drove down an
embankment and struck several trees. The collision caused one oak tree to
fall across the Interstate as the truck erupted in what was described as a

06/January/2018 – Fatal MVC with Ejection – “A” Shift
A Colleton County man was fatally injured in a single car MVC at the
intersection of Cross Swamp Road and Rum Gully Road Saturday evening
06-January at 18:50. The Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Cross
Swamp Road when it failed to negotiate a curve. The car struck an embankment
and landed in the ditch. The unrestrained driver was ejected on to the

06/January/2018 – MVC with Entrapment – “C” Shift
Two people were transported following a high speed collision on I-95 near
the 66 mile marker southbound Saturday morning 06-January at 01:10. A
southbound Chevrolet Cobalt collided with the rear of southbound DOT snow
plow. The snow plow received damage to the sand spreading device, however
the small car suffered heavy damage which trapped the front seat passenger.

05/January/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift
Smoke detectors alerted the homeowner to a fire in her residence Friday
evening 05-January. Earlier in the evening, the occupant had dumped some
coals from the fire place on the ground outside a side door. The coals
ignited vegetation along the side of the home, which ignited the exterior
wall of the residence. At 19:34, the smoke detectors alerted the occupants
to the fire and they notified 9-1-1. Click here

04/January/2018 – MVC with entrapment – “B” Shift
A truck driver received non-life threatening injuries after his truck
skidded on ice and overturned near the 68 mile marker northbound at 09:11
Thursday morning 04-January. The northbound 18-wheeler slid completely
backwards and overturned in the median, trapping the driver. A second
semi-truck also skidded on the ice covered highway, jack-knifing and blocked
all of the northbound lanes. Click here for more

03-January-2018 – Winter Storm Grayson – “A”, “B” and “C”
Shifts
An unseasonable winter storm began Wednesday 03-Janaury beginning with
freezing rain which turned to snow blanketing the east coast and covering
roads with ice and snow, including the SC Lowcountry Region. Freezing
temperatures continued for five days. Traffic continued which caused
multiple motor vehicle collisions along secondary roads, highways and

02/January/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift
A quick attack by firefighters saved a Lowcountry Hwy home Tuesday evening
02-January. At 22:09, Stations 7 and 18 were dispatched to a fire alarm at
32169 Lowcountry Hwy, north of the Town of Smoaks. Engine 18 arrived in the
area, reporting smoke in the area. Upon locating the home, Firefighters
found the single story dwelling with heavy smoke coming from the eaves.

02/January/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift
A fire in the flue pipe connected to a wood burning stove, ignited the
surrounding wall at a residence located at 50 Flash Lane north of the Town
of Smoaks Tuesday afternoon 02-January at 14:43. Firefighters removed the
wall covering to expose the burned supports and used one handline to
extinguish the fire. The flames had spread to the attic and burned through
