19/February/2020 – Fatal MVC – “A” Shift

The drivers of separate vehicles died following a high speed head-on collision in the 9800 block of Green Pond Hwy (SC Hwy 303) at the intersection of Waters Court Wednesday evening 19-February at 19:27. The cars collided after a northbound Hyundai Sonata dropped off of the right shoulder, over-corrected then lost control. The vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck a southbound Ford Taurus head-on causing heavy damage to both vehicles. The Taurus was pushed into the water filled ditched on the southbound side of the roadway. Click here for more information.

13/February/2020 – Fatal MVC – “C” Shift

A 67 year old Round O man died in a single car MVC in approximately the 6000 block of Round O Road north of Ferret Lane Thursday morning 13-February. The accident was discovered by a motorist at 01:41 who reported the driver of the car did not appear to be breathing. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the man with multiple traumatic injuries and no signs of life. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. Click here for more information.

12/February/2020 – High Speed MVC – “C” Shift

A 16 yr. old male received life threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ritter Road and White Hall Road Wednesday morning 12-February at 07:53. Witnesses advised the passenger car pulled into the path of the east bound pickup truck which struck the car in the driver’s side. The boy was a rear seat passenger in the car and was seated at the point of impact. The injured teenager suffered multiple traumatic injuries, was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 13 to the Pediatric Trauma Center at MUSC. 09/February/2020 – Tractor Trailer Fire – “B” Shift

At 06:41, Sunday morning 09-February, a southbound tractor trailer suffered a blowout on a right rear tire on the Kenworth truck. The driver advised he saw flames before he could stop in the breakdown lane. Once stopped, he attempted to extinguish the fire with an extinguisher without success. The flames quickly spread to the loaded trailer igniting the cargo of rolled roof felt. He called 9-1-1 for assistance. Engine 19 arrived about 8 minutes later to find the back of the Kenworth and the loaded trailer well involved. Click here for more information.
2/9/2020- We offer condolences to Station # 7 Captain John Graham on the death of his eldest son, John E. Graham Jr. who passed away last Thursday. Funeral Services will be conducted by Ott Funeral Home in Branchville and will be held at Smoaks’ Baptist Church 482 Lodge Hwy, Smoaks, Monday 10-February at 11:00. The burial will be held in the church cemetery. The Graham family will received friends one hour before the service at the church. Please remember their family in your prayers.

06/February/2010 – Truck MVC – “C” Shift

Three men were injured after two large trucks collided at the intersection of Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) and Peirce Road Thursday morning 06-February at 10:22. Both trucks received heavy damage and went off each side of the road hitting several trees and spilling approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel on the road and into the ditches. The driver of the larger two piece Cheerwine beverage truck complained of minor injuries and did not wish to be transported to the hospital. Click here for more information.

04/February/2020 – High Speed MVC – “A” Shift

A two vehicle head-on collision sent three people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon 04-February. At 15:25, a Mercury Mountaineer traveling north on Cottageville Hwy struck a southbound Buick LaSabre  head-on in the 1400 block of Cottageville Highway (US Hwy 17-A) near the pole yard. The LaSabre suffered heavy damage and the 59 yr old male driver was initially trapped in the wreckage, suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. 02/February/2020 – I-95 Entrapment – “B” Shift 

A 54 year old Charlotte NC woman used some innovative thinking after her hands were crushed and she became trapped while changing a tire on a dark section of I-95 near the 68 mile marker NB Sunday evening 02-February. The incident was dispatched at 18:57. The woman’s car suffered a flat tire while traveling northbound and she was forced to pull over into the breakdown lane. She removed the flat tire and was replacing it with the spare, when the jack slipped causing the car to fall, crushing both of her hands between the tire and the fender. 02/February/2020 – ATV MVC with Air Evac – “B” Shift

A 30 yr. old man received suspected serious injuries when the ATV he was riding flipped over and landed on him Sunday evening 02-February at 18:06. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man lying face down on a dirt road. They treated his injuries and immobilized him prior to transporting him to a nearby field to meet with the CARE Flight medical helicopter. He was transferred to the Flight Crew without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston. Click here for more information.
