29/December/2021 - Fatal MVC - "A" Shift A 72 yr. old Walterboro woman was critically injured when her Toyota Corolla collided with a log truck in the 1100 block of Sniders Hwy. at 06:25 Wednesday morning 29-December. The Corolla received heavy front end damage after it struck the back of the empty log trailer. Firefighter-Paramedics were able to quickly remove her from the wreckage, then transported her to Colleton Medical Center to be stabilized. The ED staff treated her injuries and later had CARE Flight fly her to the Trauma Center at Memorial Health in Savannah Georgia. Sadly, she passed away after arriving at the Trauma Center. 26/December/2021 - MVC - "B" Shift An adult female received serious injuries in a two vehicle accident in the 23900 block of Lowcountry Hwy (US Hwy 21) Sunday evening 26-Dec at 16:14. Traffic was bumper to bumper on US Hwy 21 as traffic was attempting to avoid stop and go traffic on I-95. Two southbound vehicles were attempting to pass slower traffic when they collided causing a minivan to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole on the southbound shoulder. The pole was broken in half, resulting in the upper portion tilting into the wood line and setting the trees on fire. Click here for additional information. |

23-December-2021 - Fatal MVC - "A" & "B" Shifts An 81 year old Colleton County man died from injuries received in a single vehicle MVC in the 1600 block of Penny Creek Road Thursday 23-December. The car was seen partially submerged in a pond and reported to 9-1-1 at 07:41. Colleton County Fire-Rescue and Sheriff's Deputies responded to the location to find the vehicle upright in the pond, with only the lift gate and part of the roof visible. 19/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" and "A" Shift A Cottageville family was displaced after a morning fire damaged their home. Fire-Rescue was alerted to the incident at 07:41 Sunday 19-December by a neighbor who saw smoking coming from the residence. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find smoke coming from all the eaves of the single wide mobile home. The residence had an addition on the rear and the front of the building. As crews were entering the front door, fire began blowing out of two front windows. Crews encountered fire in the front rooms that extended into the rear addition. 18/December/2021 - Shop With Santa's Heroes - "C" Shift The annual Shop with Santa's Heroes event was held Saturday morning 18-December. The event is coordinated by the Walterboro Police Department and brought responders from Fire-Rescue, WPD, Colleton County Sheriff's Office, SC Highway Patrol, SLED, Walterboro Fire Dept. and Colleton County DSS. Over 20 local children were selected by DSS to participate. Businesses and individuals donate funds each year to make the event a success and bring a brighter Christmas to local children. 14/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift A fire alarm and quick response by fire units saved a Locust Street home Tuesday morning 14-December. At 10:46, 9-1-1 received a call from an alarm company reporting an activation at a residence in the 200 block of Locust Street south of Walterboro. Engine 1 arrived minutes later to find smoke in the home. The incident was upgraded to a structure fire adding additional stations to the response. Firefighters made entry into the residence through the front door, finding smoke throughout the one story brick veneer dwelling, but not much heat. Click here for additional information. |

08/December/2021 - MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift A 52 year old Savannah Ga man was critically injured when his delivery truck collided with a flatbed truck on Interstate 95 near the 42 mile marker Southbound, Wednesday afternoon at 17.45. The accident occurred at Exit 42, just north of Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21). A southbound International flatbed tri axle truck suffered mechanical problems when traffic stopped. The disabled truck was stuck in the median side lane, unable to move. The driver placed warning triangles behind the vehicle. The rural roadway was dark and a thunderstorm had recently passed through the area. Click here for additional information. |

06/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift A Johnsville family was displaced after a mid-afternoon fire damaged their home in the 100 block of Strawberry Farm Rd north of the Town of Smoaks. 9-1-1 received the report of the fire at 14:34 advising of a fire in a bedroom. All occupants were able to safely exit the building. Engine 7 arrived to find the doublewide mobile home with flames coming from several windows on the front and rear of the structure. Firefighter-Paramedics made an aggressive attack on the fire and quickly knocked the flames. Click here for additional information. |

06/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift A Brittlebank Road family was displaced following a fire that heavily damaged their home Monday afternoon 06-December at 13:00. Fire-Rescue units arrived to the 1400 block to find the single wide mobile home with heavy fire showing from the northside of the building. Firefighter-Paramedics made entry through the front door and quickly had the fire under control. The fire was contained to the north end of the building. All of the occupants had safely exited the building The fire started in a bedroom, most likely from a candle. Click here for additional information. |

05/December/2021 - High Speed MVC with Ejection - "B" Shift An adult male suffered critical injuries after being ejected from a pickup truck on Interstate 95 near the 53 mile marker southbound Sunday evening 05-December at 17:30. Fire-Rescue units were already enroute to a fatal MVC at the 48 mile marker northbound. Some units were reassigned to the second MVC at the 53 mile marker. A witness advised a southbound pickup truck pulling a trailer swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle that changed lanes in front of him. The pickup truck entered the grass median and flipped over multiple times. Click here for additional information. |

05/December/2021 - Fatal MVC with Air Evac - "B" Shift A 43 year old Weston Florida man was killed in a single vehicle accident on I-95 near the 48 mile marker NB, Sunday afternoon 05-December. Witnesses advised the northbound pickup truck that was pulling a flat-bed trailer, suffered a rear tire blowout causing the truck to go off of the right shoulder and strike several trees. The truck flipped over in the ditch trapping both occupants. Several motorists, including an off-duty flight nurse stopped to assist. Fire-Rescue units arrived to find the truck upside down in the ditch with the roof almost flat. Click here for additional information. |

04/December/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift A Green Pond family was displaced following an early morning fire that destroyed their home Saturday morning 04-December. At 04:51, 9-1-1 received a report that the house was on fire and all of the occupants had exited the building. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to the single lane dirt road to find the single story wood frame structure fully involved. A portion of the rear corner of the home had already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 2-1/2 handline and one 1-3/4 handline to combat the fire. They had the fire under control within 25 minutes. Click here for additional information. |

03-December-2021 - MVC with Air Evac - "C" Shift A single vehicle accident sent an adult male to a Trauma Center Friday morning 03-December. At 10:33 9-1-1 received several calls reporting an overturned SUV on Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15) at Moyer Lane. The callers advised the SUV flipped over several times. Engine 19 arrived to find the SUV lying on its roof. The northbound vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole breaking it in half, rolled over several times, coming to rest upside down on Moyer Lane. The power pole held the school warning lights which fell into the roadway. The cables block all four lanes of Jefferies Hwy. Click here for additional information. |
