24/April/24 - Shooting Incident - "C" Shift An adult male received a life threatening gunshot wound during an incident at the Colleton Heights Apartments, 100 Sniders Hwy. (SC Hwy 63) Wednesday afternoon 24-April at 19:55. Law Enforcement Officers cleared the scene and controlled the bleeding on the patient until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The patient was found near the "G" Building. Crews treated the patient and administered IV Fluids prior to transporting him to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center in Fire-Rescue Medic 26. 22/April/2024 - MVC with entrapment & Air Evac - "A" Shift Interstate 95 SB at the Combahee River was closed for an hour following a high speed MVC involving a semi-truck that struck a tree. The accident occurred Monday afternoon 22-April at 16:04 near the 40 mile marker southbound. It was originally reported in Colleton County at the 43 mile marker, but was actually just south of the Colleton/Hampton County line (Combahee River) near the 40 mile marker in Hampton County. Hampton County Fire units requested mutual aid for the extrication. Click here for additional information. |

19/April/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift An adult and a juvenile were injured in a single vehicle, high speed MVC in the 4500 block of Green Pond Hwy. (SC Hwy 303) Friday afternoon 19-April at 16:21. A northbound Nissan Altima crossed into the southbound ditch, struck a driveway culvert and became airborne. The passenger car struck a large pine tree approx. 15 feet off of the ground, then fell back into the ditch behind a guardrail. The adult female driver was trapped in the wreckage. 14/April/2024 - Fatal MVC w/ double entrapment - "B" Shift A New York couple perished and two others in a minivan were injured in a two vehicle high speed MVC on Interstate 95 near the 55 mile marker northbound, Sunday morning 14-April at 09:41. Two northbound vehicles collided at the Beach Road overpass, causing a Chevrolet Malibu to leave the roadway. The Malibu went down the embankment, uprooted a large tree, then struck a second large tree and overturned. The engine was ejected from the car and caught fire. 13/April/2024 - Multi-vehicle, high speed MVC - "A" Shift A three vehicle, high speed MVC on Interstate 95 near the 46 mile marker northbound, critically injured one man and sent four other people to Colleton Medical Center for treatment. The accident occurred Saturday evening 13-April at 20:45. Two northbound passenger cars collided, sending one into the woods where it also struck a tree and the other remained in the lane of traffic. This area of I-95 is rural and has no street lights. The second vehicle was damaged and had no lights on, but remained in the travel lane. Click here for additional information. |

13/April/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift A Ruffin home was heavily damaged in an afternoon fire at 415 Quarters Drive Saturday 13-April at 18:56. 9-1-1 received several reports of flames coming from the home. Engine 18, Medic 18 and Tender 18 arrived minutes later to find the single wide mobile home approximately 50% involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and made entry through the front door. They were able to stop the spread of the fire from reaching the north end of the residence, but the home received substantial damage. Click here for additional information. |

13/April/2024 - High Speed MVC - "A" Shift Three people were transported to Colleton Medical Center following a three vehicle collision in the 16900 block of Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) near Byrd Farm Road Saturday morning 13-April at 11:40. The accident occurred when a south bound car traveling at a high rate of speed struck another vehicle from behind. The car then went into the northbound lane and struck a NB pickup truck. Two Fire-Rescue ambulances responded to the MVC. Click here for additional information. |

12/April/2024 - Motorcycle MVC - "B" Shift An adult male was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a deer on Round O Rd near Freeman Lane Friday morning 12-April. At 06:02 a motorist drove up on the accident, finding the driver unconscious in the middle of the road. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered multiple traumatic injuries.The deer did not survive the collision. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station # 9 in Cottageville treated the man on the scene, then transported him emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. 11/April/2024 - Stabbing Incident - "B" Shift An adult male suffered a non-life threatening stab wound during an altercation in the 200 block of Briarwood Rd Thursday evening 11-April at 22:27. The man was stabbed in the leg by a female who fled the scene. Walterboro Police Officers cleared the scene and administered first aid, controlling the bleeding. The man was treated by Firefighter-Paramedics then transported to Colleton Medical Center in stable condition. WPD is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information. |

10/April/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift A Hickory Hill residence was heavily damaged in an afternoon fire that occurred in the 900 block of Hickory Hill Road, about 5 miles south of the Green Pond Community. Neighbors saw flames on the front porch and called 9-1-1 at 15:04. A four year canine was trapped inside the home. Neighbors made attempts to rescue the trapped dog. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to find heavy flames coming from the front of the doublewide mobile home. The front porch was well involved and fire had spread into several front rooms. 10/April/2024 - Shooting Incident - "A" Shift An adult female was injured in a shooting incident at 100 Sniders Hwy, Colleton Heights Apartments, Wednesday afternoon 10-April. The incident was reported to 9-1-1 at 12:06. The woman received an injury to the neck and was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. She was transported in Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with CARE Flight. The patient was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to a Trauma Center in Charleston. Click here for additional information. |

05/April/2024 - Condolences The Department offers condolences to Firefighter-EMT Josh Blasko on the passing of his father-in-law, Brian D. Lutz. Mr. Lutz passed away on April 5, 2024 at the age of 63, and was a lifelong resident of Willoughby, Ohio. 05/April/2024 - Stabbing Incident - "A" Shift Two people were injured in a domestic dispute at the Econolodge Motel, 1142 Sniders Hwy. (SC Hwy 63) Friday morning 05-April at 0042. An adult male received two stab wounds and an adult female received several minor lacerations during the incident. Both were treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. The male patient was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 26. The female patient refused ambulance transport. Click here for additional information. |

05/April/2024 - Overturned Vehicle - "A" Shift A box style delivery truck overturned on I-95 near the 41 mile marker southbound, Friday morning 05-April a little after midnight. 9-1-1 began receiving calls about the accident at 00:18 reporting three people were injured. The truck left the roadway and overcorrected causing it to overturn in the highway. The truck came to rest blocking both southbound lanes. The roof of the cargo portion broke open, spilling the load onto the breakdown lane which cut off southbound traffic. Two adults and a small child were injured. 04/April/2024 - Woods Fire - "A" Shift Fire-Rescue responded to a large woods fire Thursday afternoon 04-April in the 4000 block of Cottageville Hwy (US Hwy 17-A) At 15:15, Engine 19 was dispatched to a lawnmower on fire at a residence. On arrival, Firefighters found the lawn mower fully involved, but nearby grass had ignited. 30 MPH winds drove the fire into a nearby field and woods which quickly spread and grew to over 10 acres. Engine 19 requested additional fire units to assist. Several nearby homes were threatened. One residence had a large ornamental driveway arch which was too low to permit fire trucks to reach the home. Click here for more information. |

03/April/2024 - Fatal Car vs Bike MVC - "C" Shift An adult male was killed when his bicycle was struck from behind by a passenger car in the 14600 block of Bells Hwy. (SC Hwy 64) west of Stephens Crossroads Wednesday afternoon 03-April. The accident was reported at 15:07 when witnesses told 9-1-1 a small dark colored car struck the man. He was thrown into the ditch and the car did not stop to render aid, but fled the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station 18, arrived minutes later, but the man had no signs of life. 02/April/2024 - MVC with Double Entrapment & Air Evac - "B" Shift Two people were critically injured and heavily entrapped in a single vehicle MVC in the 400 block of Wood Road Tuesday afternoon 02-April at 18:38. The east bound Crown Victoria was traveling at a high rate of speed, when if crossed into the west bound lane, entered the ditch and struck a driveway culvert. The car became airborne and struck a large oak tree several feet off the ground, causing extensive damage to the car. The floor and dashboard were pushed into the seats. Both occupants were trapped in the wreckage and suffered multiple life threatening injuries. Click here for additional information. |

02/April/2024 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift A barn was destroyed in an evening fire in the 9500 block of Sidneys Road Tuesday 02-April. At 22:37, a neighbor notified 9-1-1 of the fire. They advised they could see the flames through the woods. Engine 36 arrived minutes later and advised the block building was fully involved and the roof had already collapsed. The block building was located about 700 feet off of the road and inaccessible to vehicles. The fire had burned into the nearby woods. A Forestry tractor was requested and responded.
