22/July/2025 - MCI Fatal Multi-vehicle MVC w/ 4 Entrapments - "A" Shift

At 16:35, Tuesday afternoon 22-July a multi-vehicle high speed MVC occurred on Interstate 95 near the 40 mile marker southbound. The accident took place in Colleton County, on a bridge over the Combahee River just north of the Town of Yemassee. There were two accidents at the location on a rural portion of I-95 which occurred during a heavy thunderstorm. Motorists reported near zero visibility. Witnesses indicated a collision occurred just south of the bridge causing traffic to slow. A second collision occurred on the bridge involving six tractor trailers and six cars/pickup trucks. 21/July/2025 - Multiple Shooting Incident - "C" Shift

Three people were shot, two critically, during an incident at the Lincoln Apartments, 404 Whitsel Street in Walterboro at 11:18 Monday morning 21-July. 9-1-1 received several reports advising a female was shot in the head. Walterboro Police Officers and County Sheriff's Deputies arrived quickly to find there were three people with gunshot injuries. Two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances were assigned to the incident. Law Enforcement Officers administered first aid to the victims until Fire-Rescue units arrived. Click here for additional information.
20/July/2025 - Shooting Incident w/Air Evac - "B" Shift

 An adult male received a life threatening gunshot wound at a residence in the 100 block of Caterpillar Lane near Grubers Crossroads Sunday afternoon 20-July at 15:26. The patient received a single gunshot wound to the upper thigh that broke the femur. The man lost a good bit of blood from the injury. A Sheriff's Deputy arrived first and applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding. Initially responders were told the incident was a drive-by shooting, but it was later determined by Law Enforcement to be an accidental self-inflicted injury. Click here for more information.
17/July/2025 - MVC with Air Evac - "B" Shift

An adult female was seriously injured in a two vehicle MVC at the intersection of Bells Hwy. (SC Hwy 64) and Upchurch Lane Thursday afternoon 17-July at 18:29. The woman was a front seat passenger in a Chevrolet Malibu that was struck in the passenger side by a Ford Transit van. The car received heavy damage. The woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. She was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 26. 16/July/2025 - Otter Island Rescue - "C" Shift

County Fire-Rescue units, Edisto Beach Fire-Rescue units, DNR and the Coast Guard responded to an overturned boat near Otter Island in the Saint Helena sound Wednesday morning 16-July at 06:31. The occupants advised their boat overturned Tuesday evening and they had been stranded for over 12 hours. One occupant suffered a medical emergency following the incident and the other two people were able to keep them on top of the hull during the night. Click here for additional information.
13/July/2025 - Edisto River Rescue - "A" Shift

Ten people were rescued from the Edisto River Sunday afternoon 13-July. At 16:14, Colleton 9-1-1 received reports of ten people in the river as a result of an overturned floatation device. Units from the DNR, the Sheriff's Office and Fire-Rescue responded to the incident and accessed the area from two landings, one north of I-95 and one south of I-95. What started out as a leisurely trip for two families, consisting of five adults and five children , nearly turned tragic in the swift waters of the Edisto. Click here for additional information. 
09/July/2025 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

A Johnsville Community home was heavily damaged by a fire Wednesday afternoon 09-July. At 17:58, the homeowner in the 1400 block of Johnsville Road, called 9-1-1 advising his house was on fire with flames visible from the rear of the structure. Engine 7 arrived minutes later to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the single story wood frame structure. Crews deployed two hand lines to the building to combat the fire. The flames had already breached the ceiling and traveled through the attic. The occupant had already safely exited the building. Click here for additional information.
07/July/2025 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A Cottageville home was damaged by a lightning strike Monday afternoon, 07-July at 16:53 in the 200 block of Farmer Street. Callers to 9-1-1 reported smoke in the residence. Fire-Rescue units arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves on all sides of the building. Crews deployed one handline to the structure and found a hole blown in the ceiling. The fire damaged electrical wiring in the attic and had burned across several rafters. Crews were on the scene for over an hour performing overhaul and removing smoldering insulation. 06/July/2025 - Shooting Incident - "B" Shift

Law Enforcement Officers are investigating a shooting incident that injured a 14 year old male juvenile in the 200 block of Sniders Hwy., behind Colleton Heights Apartments at 02:37 Sunday morning 06-July.
