A tragic motor vehicle collision in the 5600 block of Green Pond Hwy (SC Hwy 303) has claimed four lives. The accident occurred Monday evening 03-Nov at 18:36 on the rural highway four miles south of Walterboro. A Volkswagon Jetta and a Dodge Caravan collided head-on causing extensive damage to both vehicles, blocking both lanes of Green Pond Hwy. Three unrestrained occupants were in the Jetta. Two were trapped and the male driver of the Caravan was also trapped in the wreckage. Both vehicles caught fire. Click here for more information.
A residential structure on Bazzle Farm Lane was damaged in a morning fire Sunday 03-Nov at 10:45. The occupants were at home when they heard a popping noise. Upon investigating, they discovered the back of the house was on fire. They were able to get all of the animals safely out and all occupants exited the building. The fire appears to have started outside the home near the back porch. The fire burned up the side of the structure and entered the attic space, spreading across the attic space. Engine 26 arrived and deployed one handline to extinguish the fire. Click here for additional information.
