30/August/2020 Fatal MVC with entrapment and Air Evac
B Shift
A Williams man was killed, a woman was critically injured, a 34 yr. old man
received minor injuries and three children (ages 10 to 17) received non-life
threatening injuries in a head-on collision in the 800 block of Williams
Road (SC Hwy 212) north of Bells Hwy Sunday evening 30-August. At 20:58,
9-1-1 was notified of the accident. Fire-Rescue units from the Bells
Crossroads station arrived three minutes later to find the two heavily
damaged vehicles blocking the roadway. They requested two additional
ambulances, a Rescue unit and two medical helicopters. Click

28/August/2020 Structure Fire C Shift
A small barn was destroyed in a evening fire in the 200 block of Welles Lane
Friday 28-August. At 21:14, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the barn behind the
residence was on fire with flames visible from the structure. Engine 26
arrived to the find the single story structure fully involved. The roof had
already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline to
extinguish the remains of the structure. The building and the contents were
destroyed. Crews were on the scene for about 2 hours performing overhaul.

27/August/2020 Shooting Incident B Shift
A 49 yr. old female was lucky and received only minor
injuries in a shooting incident that occurred in the area of Peurifoy Rd and
Gadsden Loop Thursday evening 27-August at 23:55. The woman reported to
officers that a car shot at her vehicle striking it several times. Two
rounds passed through the rear window and out the windshield, one of which
brushed the womans shoulder. She received a small laceration and was able
to drive to the 1100 block of Hampton Street to call for help. Walterboro
Police Officers and Sheriffs Deputies arrived quickly to secure the scene.

27/August/2020 Shooting Incident B Shift
Three people were injured in a shooting incident at Walterboro Village
Apartments Thursday afternoon 27-August. At 18:29, 9-1-1 received reports of
multiple shots fired at the complex located at 601 Green Pond Highway.
Initial reports were of suspects in the parking lot shooting and a woman
inside an apartment was struck and bleeding. Walterboro Police officers and
Sheriffs Deputies responded and secured the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics
were directed to a 52 year old woman who was shot in the abdomen. Click

25/August/2020 Car vs House with Injuries C Shift
A vehicle collided with a residence in the 200 block of
McTeer St in the City of Walterboro Tuesday morning 25-August. Fire-Rescue
and City of Walterboro units were advised of the incident at 07:34. Units
arrived to find a Ford Expedition had backed into the residence with
approximately half to the SUV entering the home. Two children were asleep in
the room that was struck. Both children suffered minor injuries.
Firefighter-Paramedics evaluated and treated the pair at the scene and
transported both along with a third child at the mothers request. All three

20/August/2020 Structure Fire A Shift
A 20 x 30 block storage building was damaged in an afternoon fire during a
thunderstorm Thursday afternoon 20-August at 17:55. The resident at 13922
Bells Hwy called 9-1-1 to report that lightning had struck the building and
it was ablaze. Engine 18, stationed ½ mile away arrived minutes later to
find heavy smoke coming from the one story block structure.
Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline to extinguish the fire. Most of
the fire was contained to the contents of the building which was heavily

17/August/2020 Structure Fire A Shift
A singlewide mobile home suffered minor damage in an early afternoon fire at
1311 McMillian Street Monday 17-August at 14:23. A neighbor alerted 9-1-1
when they saw smoke coming from the home. Engine 19 arrived to find light
smoke coming from all sides of the structure. Firefighters discovered a wall
in the front bed room that was on fire. They removed the exterior siding and
insulation to extinguish the fire. No personal belongings were lost, but the
interior suffered minor smoke damage. Click

16/August/2020 Fatal MVC with Entrapment B Shift
A 28 year old man died from injuries received in a single car MVC at the
intersection of Quail Dr and Partridge Trail Sunday morning 16-August. The
accident was discovered at 02:06 and reported to 9-1-1. Sheriffs Office and
Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to find a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis
overturned on Partridge Trail at the entrance to the Quail Creek
Subdivision. It appeared the vehicle had been traveling northbound when it
left the road, entered the ditch and struck a concrete culvert. Click

09/August/2020 Fatal MVC with entrapment B Shift
An Islandton man was killed and a Smoaks man was injured in a two vehicle
MVC at the intersection of Ruffin Rd and Jones Swamp Rd Sunday evening
09-August. At 21:22, Fire-Rescue units were dispatched to the accident.
Engine 26 and Medic 26 arrived 3 minutes later to find one SUV over-turned
and one car in the front yard of a residence in the 600 block of Ruffin
Road. Firefighter-Paramedics found the driver of the SUV trapped in the
wreckage and deceased with multiple traumatic injuries. He was not wearing a
seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Click

03/August/2020 MVC with Entrapment
An adult male was critically injured in a high speed single vehicle MVC on
Interstate 95 at the 41 mile marker northbound, Monday afternoon 03-August
at 13:54. According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling northbound, when
is left the roadway on the median side, over-corrected, lost control and
skidded sideways across both lanes, then went down the embankment and struck
several trees. The impact caused heavy damage to the small 2006 Pontiac G6,
displacing the interior. The entire engine and the steering wheel were
