25/February/2022 - Fatal MVC with Entrapment - "C" Shift An adult female perished in a single vehicle MVC in the 7300 block of Jacksonboro Road south of Cottageville Saturday morning 25-February. The accident was reported at 03:23. A 2010 Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Jacksonboro Rd at a high rate of speed and lost control in a curve. The car crossed to the southbound ditch, struck two large trees and overturned. The unrestrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and found the driver without any signs of life. Click here for additional information. |

24/February/2022 - Structure, Car, Woods Fire - "A" Shift At 11:30, Wednesday 24-February, neighbors in the 600 block of Cedar Creek Rd saw smoke and heard an explosion. Upon investigating, they found a woods fire and a well involved residence down a long driveway. The home was not visible from the road. 9-1-1 was notified. Engine 18 arrived to find the home had already collapsed, an approximately one acre grass and woods fire and two cars on fire. Firefighters deployed multiple handlines to combat the fires. A 150 gallon LP tank was venting, sending flames 15 feet into the air. Click here for additional information. |

20/February/2022 - Car vs Donkey MVC - "A" Shift Five people received minor injuries when their car struck a donkey on a dark rural stretch of Hendersonville Hwy (US Hwy. 17-A) near Nursery Ln south of Walterboro Sunday evening Feb. 20 at 19:22. The small car struck the donkey that was walking in the roadway. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and found the donkey deceased on the shoulder of the road. The car suffered heavy frontend damage. None of the patients, which included two adults and three children, required transportation to the hospital. 20/February/2022 - High Speed MVC - "A" Shift Four people were transported to a Trauma Center following a high speed single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 69 mile marker southbound in Dorchester County Sunday afternoon 20-February. The accident was reported at 17:37 with multiple callers advising it was in Dorchester and Colleton Counties. Colleton Fire-Rescue units located the accident in Dorchester County just north of the Edisto River. Engine 5 and Medic 26 advised one vehicle suffered heavy damage and one patient was lying in the roadway. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the four injured people until Dorchester County units arrived to assist. The small sedan had been traveling southbound when the driver reportedly fell asleep. 20/February/2022 - High Speed MVC w/Horse Fatality - "A" Shift Two horses died in a single vehicle collision on I-95 near the 51 mile marker NB Sunday afternoon 20-Feb at 16:04. A northbound flatbed Ford truck pulling a horse trailer went into the median, striking several trees. The horse trailer was impaled on a large tree causing heavy damage to the trailer and ejecting the two horses. The truck became separated from the trailer and was upright in the median. The three occupants of the truck were not injured. One of the horses was dead at the scene, while the second horse was severely injured. Click here for additional information. |

20/February/2022 - Woods-Vehicle Fire - "A" Shift An unattended fire in a burn barrel spread to the grass and woods in the 200 block of Chestnut Rd Sunday afternoon 20-February. At 13:12 the caller reported to 9-1-1 the fire had spread from the burn barrel. Engine 19 arrived minutes later to find a nearby passenger car well involved and a mobile home endangered. Firefighters deployed multiple handlines to protect the exposures, stop the spread of the fire and to extinguish the car. The car was destroyed and the fire melted the vinyl siding on the mobile home, damaged the home's pump and a utility building. Click here for additional information. |

19/February/2022 - Structure-Woods Fire - "C" Shift A mobile home was destroyed and approximately 1 acre burned when an unattended debris pile fire spread to the building and woods. At 17:44 Saturday afternoon 19-February a passing motorist reported the mobile home burning in the 1400 block of Springhill Road south of Green Pond. Engine 6 arrived to find the singlewide mobile home had already collapsed and approximately one acre of grass and woods was on fire. A tractor from the Forestry Commission was requested. The home, which was vacant, was located down a long driveway, well off the road. Click here for additional information. |

17/February/2022 - Fire with Rescue - "A" Shift At 14:50 Thursday 17-Feb, Station 19 was dispatched to a residential fire alarm in the 1700 block of Sidneys Road. While responding, the alarm company made a second call to notify Colleton 9-1-1 that they could see smoke inside the residence on the security cameras. The incident was upgraded to a structure fire. Engine 19, arrived a short time later and reported the smell of smoke from the yard. Firefighter-Paramedics forced entry through the front door and found the interior of the home charged with smoke. 15/February/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift One building was destroyed and two others were damaged in an afternoon fire in the 900 block of Drew Hill Ct, Tuesday 15-February at 13:30. The homeowner had dumped ashes from the fireplace on a pile in the yard. The smoldering ashes ignited dry grass and spread across the yard damaging her doublewide mobile home. The fire reached a singlewide mobile home located close to the doublewide and set it on fire. The homeowner heard the noise, then discovered the well involved singlewide. She notified 9-1-1. 14/February/2022 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Round O home Monday afternoon 14-Feb. At 14:18, 9-1-1 received a report of flames and smoke coming from the residence at 31 Moss Creek Lane. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find flames extending up the side of the doublewide mobile home. Crews deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the building, quickly knocking down the bulk of the flames. They spent 10 minutes extinguishing fire behind the residence as well. The fire started on the back porch in what appeared to be a flower pot, causing damage to the porch and burning a hole through the wooden porch. Click here for additional information. |

13/February/2022 - MVC with Ejection and Air Evacuation - "C" Shift A 43 yr old Lodge woman was critically injured in a high speed single vehicle roll-over accident in the 6600 block of Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) Sunday evening 13-Feb. The accident was reported at 21:46, when the north bound 2001 Ford Expedition lost control and left the roadway. The car flipped over several times and came to rest upright in the yard. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the car and was found unresponsive approximately fifteen feet from the car. 06/February/2022 - Multi-acre Woods/Brush Fire - "B" Shift Low humidity and high winds caused the rapid spread of a woods/brush fire in the 500 block of Pellum Road Sunday afternoon 06-Feb at 15:29.. A man accidentally dropped a burning piece of paper which ignited the brush and quickly spread throughout a nearby field, endangering several structures. Engine 1 arrived to find the rapidly spreading fire and requested two additional stations and units from the Forestry Commission. Engine 1 worked the fire from a driveway north of the fire, while Engine 26 positioned south of the fire. Click here for additional information. |

02/February/2022 - Horse Rescue - "A" Shift Fire-Rescue units responded to assist with a horse rescue in the 600 block of Bachelor Hill Rd north of Hendersonville Tuesday afternoon 02-February. The request was received at 14:47 advising a large horse was stuck in the mud at the location. Deputy Chief Greene arrived in Car 105 to find the 28 year old horse (named "Hogue") stuck in a swampy area up to its chest. Crews worked for several hours digging out mud, cutting trees, pulling stumps and used a Fire-Rescue winch with several large straps to free the horse. Colleton County Animal Services, the horse's caretaker, owner and a neighbor assisted in freeing the animal and cared for the horse during the rescue. Click here for more information. |
