29-May-2020 - MVC with Fire - "B" Shift

A single car MVC involving an overturned vehicle sent one person to a Trauma Center Sunday afternoon 29-May at 13:59. 9-1-1 received several reports of an accident near the County Line on ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy 17) about 8 minutes prior. A BOLO was broadcast for a red Chevrolet Impala that had struck three vehicles, fled the scene and was now traveling west on Charleston Hwy. (SC Hwy 64). Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area. 28/May/2022 - Shooting Incident - "A" Shift

An adult male was injured in a shooting incident in the 100 block of Sheldon Ct. Saturday afternoon 28-May at 15:28. Sheriff's Deputies cleared the scene before Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The male patient was treated on scene for a single gunshot wound, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information.

25/May/2022 - Fatal MVC w/entrapment & Air Evac - "B" Shift

A Florida woman died from injuries received in a single car high speed MVC on Interstate 95 near the 55 mile marker northbound Wednesday afternoon 25-May at 12:32. The 2011 Acura MDX was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and struck two large pine trees. The small car received heavy damage. The restrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. An adult female front passenger was also injured. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. 22/May/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Lightning struck a house in the 900 block of Pynes Community Rd Sunday morning 22-May. Thunderstorms passed through the county midday Sunday. Lighting struck this house near the chimney setting the home on fire. The occupants safely exited the building and ran down to the street to a nearby house to call 9-1-1 at 11:47. Engine 6 arrived approximately 9 minutes later to find fire venting through the roof and heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the single story wood frame structure. Firefighter-Paramedics made entry into the home with one hand line and quickly knocked down the fire, which had already entered the attic. Click here for additional information.
21/May/2022 - Hospital Luncheon

Colleton Medical Center held its annual Prehospital Provider Luncheon as part of National EMS Week, Tuesday 21-May. The Luncheon was to honor all prehospital providers. On-duty crews with Fire-Rescue were rotated through the facility and many off-duty and volunteer personnel also dropped by and enjoyed a meal. Hospital CEO Jimmy Hiott and ED Director Whitney Bishop joined the crews during the event. Several out of county EMS units also attended. Click here for additional information.
15/May/2022 - Commercial Structure Fire w/Exposure - "A" Shift

At 15:14, Sunday afternoon 15-May, Fire-Rescue was sent to a commercial  structure fire at 87 Acorn Rd. Engine 1 arrived to find the building well involved. with flames coming from the front, rear and roof of the structure. Winds carried embers to the adjacent property, which is the City of Walterboro. The roof of the Budgetel Inn was also on fire. The City of Walterboro Fire Dept was also notified as County Firefighter-Paramedics initiated an attack on both buildings. Engine 1 deployed multiple large diameter handlines to the auto shop on Acorn Road and Ladder 19 set up between the two buildings. Click here for more information.
13/May/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift 

A Cottageville woman has been displaced following a fire in her mobile home Friday evening 13-May. At 20:49, a passerby noticed flames coming from the middle of the structure at 31 Gaines Circle north of Cottageville. Engine and Medic 9 arrived minutes later to find the singlewide mobile approximately 50% involved. Crews deployed multiple handlines to the building to combat the fire. The home was filled with contents contributing to a heavy fire load. Crews used a K-12 circular saw to remove a portion of the front wall to remove contents from the burning building. Click here for additional information.
12/May/2022 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A singlewide mobile home was destroyed in an afternoon structure fire at 24 Tika Street Thursday 11-May at 12:35. Engine 26 arrived to find the building approximately 50% involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and entered through the front door. They quickly knocked down the fire, but the mobile home suffered substantial damage. Crews were on the scene for two hours. No one was home when the fire occurred and no injuries were reported. Click here for additional information.

We congratulate Firefighter-EMT Damontre Ferguson on obtaining certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Tre has been transferred from a day shift to Station 26 on "A" Shift.
10/May/2022 - MVC with Ejection - "B" Shift

An adult male was critically injured in a single vehicle MVC in the 1000 block of Oakman Branch Road Tuesday evening 10-May. The accident was reported at 22:19, after the southbound sedan left the roadway, struck a driveway culvert and overturned several times. The unrestrained man was ejected from the car. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man unconscious, face down in the ditch. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries. He was quickly treated at the scene, then transported with additional Firefighter-Paramedics on board to assist with his care. Click here for additional information.
10/May/2022 - Multi-acre Woods Fire - "B" Shift

A multi-acre woods fire in the 200 block of Turner Lane, was one of several Tuesday that kept Firefighters busy most of the afternoon. Crews responded at 11:01 for the report of a large woods fire threatening several structures. Firefighters found a large fast moving woods fire and requested additional units to assist. Units were on the scene for four hours protecting structures while two Forestry tractors cut lines around the fire. No buildings were damaged. Fire units responded to a woods fire that got out of hand on Can City Road near Leroy Place several hours later.  Click here for additional information.
