27/August/2022 - Fatal MVC with Entrapment - "C" Shift

Two Colleton County men were killed in a two vehicle head-on collision on Robertson Blvd (SC Hwy 64) near Ireland Creek Saturday afternoon 27-August. At 15:56, a witness was on the phone with 9-1-1 reporting one of the vehicles for erratic driving when the pickup went left of the center line and struck another pickup truck head-on. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The collision trapped both unrestrained drivers and blocked the roadway. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to find both drivers deceased. 23/August/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Firefighters saved an Islandton home Tuesday morning 23-August. At 09:47, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 990 Mears Rd. Engine 15 arrived to find smoke coming from the doublewide mobile home. Crews deployed one handline to the building. The homeowner had already disconnected the power to the residence. Firefighter-Paramedics found the fire in the utility room near the back door. Crews removed the washer and dryer, then removed portions of the wall to extinguish the flames. 8/18/2022 - We are extremely proud to announce and would like to congratulate Battalion Chief Scott Feather on being a runner-up for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Volunteer and Combination Officers Section (VCOS) Training Officer Recognition Award.  The award recognizes those who make a difference in their community by exhibiting extraordinary commitment and dedication to the professional development of their department by enhancing their skills and service to their community. Battalion Chief Feather has been with the Fire-Rescue Department for over 20 years and has been in the Training Division since 2007.
18/August/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A singlewide mobile home was damaged and a camper used as a residence was destroyed in an afternoon fire that occurred at 1042 Creekside Lane Wednesday 18-August. At 14:29, 9-1-1 was notified of the fire inside the camper. The caller advised flames were visible and the camper was next to another building. Engine 5 arrived to find the camper well involved with flames impending on a single wide mobile home only six feet away. A bystander was using a garden hose in an attempt to slow the fire. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines, one to the camper and the second to the interior of the mobile home. Click here for more information.
13/August/2022 - Stabbing/Shooting Incident - "A" Shift

Four people were injured in an incident at 252 East Washington Street, Signature Ventures, Saturday evening 13-August. At 20:58, 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting and stabbing at the location. As additional information was obtained, it was determined that four people were hurt. Two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances were assigned to the response. It was reported that some type of reception was being held at the building. An adult male was stabbed multiple times at the Washington Street location. Immediately after, gunshots occurred inside the establishment. Click here for additional information.
12/Aug/2022 - Structure Fire Mutual Aid - "B" Shift

At 06:29, Fire-Rescue responded as mutual aid to a structure fire at 52 Pocotaligo Pl, the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, in Jasper County. Jasper County Fire-Rescue requested two Tenders from Colleton. Several other Fire Depts responded to assist as well, including the MCAS and Sheldon. The church suffered heavy damage. 08/August/2022 - Multi-vehicle MVC - "A" Shift

A six vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 59 mile marker southbound sent five people to area hospitals and closed southbound traffic for two hours Monday morning 08-August at 06:11. The accident occurred just before sunrise in light fog. Witnesses reported a southbound car left the roadway, hit the cable barrier and returned to the roadway. The vehicle was reported to be disabled and stopped in the lane of traffic. This caused a chain reaction type accident. One vehicle was struck in the rear by a tractor trailer causing extensive damage to the car. Click here for additional information.
8/6/2022- We congratulate Firefighter-Paramedic William Worrell on his promotion to Engineer-Paramedic. Worrell met the qualifications for Engineer in July.
Additionally we congratulate Lt. Michael Duffy on his promotion to Captain. We wish them both success in their new roles. 
06/August/2022 - MVC w entrapment & Air Evac - "C" Shift

Two people were critically injured in a single vehicle MVC in the 14500 block of Bells Hwy (SC Hwy 64) west of Stephens Crossroads Saturday morning 06-August at 08:06. A west bound Toyota RAV4 left the roadway, entered the east bound ditch and struck a driveway culvert. The small car became airborne, struck a second driveway culvert and flipped over at least three times. The unrestrained driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle. The adult male patient was found in the ditch approximately 30 feet from the car. Click here for additional information.
