27/November/2020 - MVC with Fire - "A" Shift

An incident that occurred near the 39 mile marker on I-95 in the Town of Yemassee (Hampton County) resulted in injuries to a municipal police officer at approximately 15:15 Friday 27-November. The Blue Toyota Tundra pickup truck fled the scene traveling northbound on I-95 and entered Colleton County a short time later. Yemassee Police and the SC Highway Patrol pursued the subject for approx. 7 miles. The driver of the pickup set the interior of the truck on fire while being chased by Law Enforcement. 25/November/2020 - Shooting Incident - "B" Shift

A 19 year old male received a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the hand in what is thought to be an accidental shooting at the Travelodge at 1577 Bells Hwy. in Walterboro Wednesday evening 25-November at 18:11. Walterboro Police Officers and Sheriff's Deputies responded and cleared the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics found the patient ambulatory  with bleeding to his hand. 23/November/2020 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Francis Street home Monday afternoon 23-November. At 12:51, a caller to 9-1-1 reported a fire in the home. The family was able to safely exit the structure prior to the arrival of Fire-Rescue. Engine 19 found moderate smoke conditions on arrival, The Incident Commander had determined the fire was heaviest in an attached utility room at the rear of the single story brick veneer dwelling. The fire also appeared to have entered the attic. One crew was directed to attack the utility room, while a second crew was sent inside to battle the fire in the attic. 22/November/2020 - Fatal MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift

A 19 yr. old Walterboro man died in a single car MVC on the dirt portion of Round O Road approximately 4 miles east of Jacksonboro Road Sunday morning 22-November. The 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was found by several hunters at 08:18 who reported the accident to 9-1-1. The vehicle was traveling west, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, overturned and struck several trees. It was found laying on the driver's side with the roof pushed to the floor in a heavily wooded area. Click here for more information.
21/November/2020 - High Speed MVC - "A" Shift

Fire-Rescue responded to a report of a single car MVC at the intersection of Ritter Rd and White Hall Rd Saturday evening  21-November at 20:52. Responding units were unable to locate an accident at the reported location. A search of the area revealed the accident was 1-1/2 miles south of the intersection in the 1500 block of Whitehall Road. Engine 13 found a Chevrolet Impala with heavy damage against an Oak tree in a yard. The tree had impacted all the way to the firewall on the small car. The vehicle was on fire. Bystanders advised someone pulled the man out of the car and transported him to the hospital by private car. Click here for more info.
19/November/2020 - Fatal MVC with entrapment - "C" Shift

A 34 yr. old man died from injuries he received in a single car MVC in the 8600 block of Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21) at the intersection of Shiloh Loop Thursday evening 19-November. At 21:33, another motorist reported the accident. While emergency units were enroute, a second caller advised the driver was trapped in the wreckage. Additional Fire-Rescue units were assigned to the incident. The first arriving Firefighter-Paramedics found the car with heavy damage, wrapped around a pine tree. The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had no signs of life. The Coroner's Office was notified.  Click here for more information.
17/November/2020 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

An adult female suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a two vehicle MVC on Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) at the intersection of Drain Road Tuesday evening 17-November at 18:29. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction, when the small Mercedes sedan collided with the rear of the semi-truck. On arrival, Medic 7 requested a second Fire-Rescue ambulance and began treating the patients. The truck driver suffered non-life threatening injuries. Augusta Hwy was blocked for an hour until the vehicles could be removed. Click here for more information.
17/November/2020 - MVC - "C" Shift

An adult male received critical injuries after he crashed a moped in the ditch in the 3500 block of Charleston Hwy. (SC Hwy 64) Tuesday evening 17-November at 18:16. A passerby noticed the man and the moped in the ditch on the dark stretch of rural highway and notified 9-1-1. Battalion 1 arrived to find the man with multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene, then transported him emergent to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. Click here for more information.

16/November/2020 - Fatal MVC - "B" Shift

A 62 yr old Cottageville man died from injuries received when his 2001 Yukon collided with a Frontend Loader in the 11700 block of Round O Road Monday evening after dark. The Yukon received heavy damage in the crash. The accident was reported at 17:57. Bystanders found the man unresponsive and began performing CPR in the roadway. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and continued the resuscitative efforts. The man was transported emergent to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 9 with additional Firefighter-Paramedics on board to assist with his care. Click here for more information.
15/November/2020 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

An adult male was critically injured in a single car MVC in the 7500 block of Sidneys Road Sunday afternoon 15-November at 17:38. The Nissan Maxima left the roadway at a high rate of speed, entered the ditch, then collided with a tree before striking a driveway culvert and flipping over several times. The car landed on the roof in a ditch containing water. The unrestrained driver was found unconscious in the water, trapped in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics used Holmatro Rescue Tools to force open a door to access the driver. Click here for more information.
11/12/2020- It is with sadness that we report the passing of Volunteer Firefighter Marquious Williams of Station # 12 (Neyles). Firefighter Williams served at Station 12 for the past 15 years and was employed full-time with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office at the Detention Center.

A graveside service will be held at Aimwell Presbyterian Church 8925 Charleston Hwy at 11:00 Saturday 14-November. Visitation is at Koger Funeral Home on South Jefferies Blvd., Friday 13-November from 16:00 to 19:00.

05/November/2020 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

A double wide mobile home suffered damage to the kitchen following a fire that started on the stove midday Thursday 05-November at 11:56. Engine 1 arrived at 289 Little Elbow Dr. to find moderate smoke conditions coming from the doublewide mobile home. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 1-3/4 handline and quickly extinguished the fire continuing it to the area of the stove and the cabinets above the stove. The remainder of the home received smoke damage, but most personal items and the remainder of the home were saved. No one was injured during the incident. Click here for more information.
05-November-2020 - Fatal MVC with Double Entrapment - "A" Shift

A 29 year old male driver was injured and trapped in the wreckage of his vehicle after the northbound SUV left the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned in the 6000 block of Green Pond Hwy. (SC Hwy 303) Thursday morning 05-November at 00:26. The Chevrolet Tahoe received heavy damage in the collision. The driver had been unconscious following the impact. He suffered a head injury and other multiple traumatic injuries. Click here for more information.
02-November-2020 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

A residential structure, a step van loaded with lumber and a small wooded area were burned Monday afternoon 02-November. At 16:30, 9-1-1 received multiple reports of the fire with callers advising the flames were coming from the roof. Battalion 1 arrived minutes later to find the single story wood frame dwelling approximately 50% involved. Power lines were down on one side of the building and a residential gas line was free burning, shooting flames into the air. Engine 1 used a deck gun to knockdown the flames while Firefighter-Paramedics deployed several hand lines to the building. Click here for more information.
01-November-2020 - MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift

Three people were injured and one was trapped following a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) and Round O Rd Sunday afternoon 01-November at 16:50. Medic 9 arrived to find the highway blocked by the vehicles and debris. They confirmed the female driver of one of the vehicles was trapped and requested one additional Fire-Rescue Ambulance. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the injured and used Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the driver's door of one vehicle to free the female driver. She suffered non-life threatening injuries.
