12/31/2010- Structure Fire (C-Shift)

A Cottageville family has been displaced due to an early evening house fire north of Town that occurred at 2136, 31-December. The initial 9-1-1 call reported the fire was already burning through the roof. Engine 9 and Medic 9 arrived minutes later from Station # 9 located less than a mile away, to find the single story wood frame structure well involved, with flames extending out of the front and rear of the structure.Click here for more info.

 

12/31/2010- Shooting Incident (C-shift)

Station # 18 responded to a shooting incident on Dozier Drive near the intersection of Cross Swamp Road (near Stephens Crossroads) at 2043 Friday 30-December. Firefighter-Paramedics found the 39 year old Hispanic  male in the parking lot of N and W Grocery on Bells Highway. The store is about 50 yards from the mobile home where the incident occurred.  Click here for additional information.

 

12/28/2010- Structure Fire (C-shift)

An early evening house fire has displaced a Hyde Park family. Engine 26 arrived at 100 Sunny Drive to find heavy black smoke coming from the single story brick veneer dwelling at 17:41, Tuesday 28-December. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, entering the structure through the front door. 12/25/2010- Structure Fire (C-shift)

Stations 1, 19, 24 and 26 responded to a structure fire at 1691 Sidneys Road Christmas evening 25-December at 2027. Engine # 19 arrived 4 minutes after the initial 9-1-1 call to find light smoke coming from the single story wood frame structure and flames visible from the rear of the building. A Deputy was wheeling a wheel chair bound man out of the house when they arrived. Click here for additional information.

 

12/20/2010- Structure Fire (A-shift)

A yard debris fire spread through dry grass to ignite a singlewide mobile home located at 16 Noel Court, Monday afternoon 20-December at 1316. Engine 2 arrived to find moderate smoke conditions in the small mobile home with an slow moving grass fire. Crews deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to knock down the exterior/interior fire and a booster line for the grass fire. Click here for additional information.

 

12/18/2010-

We congratulate Firefighter-Paramedic Tony (TJ) Brown on successfully passing the National Registry Paramedic Exam. Brown, who graduated from Paramedic school this past week, completed the written portion of the exam Friday, then successfully completed the practical portion Saturday 18-December. Firefighter-EMT Bryon Eadon also successfully passed the practical portion on Saturday and will test the written exam later in the month.

12/17/2010- MVC with Air Evacuation (A-shift)

A 14 year old male suffered multiple traumatic injuries when he was struck by a car on Wesley Grove Road Friday afternoon 17-December. Witnesses stated the cyclist drove into the path of an eastbound car near Saw Dust Trail. The impact broke the bicycle into two pieces sending the youth into the windshield and over the car. The vehicle suffered moderate frontend and roof damage.  Click here for additional information.

 

12/17/2010- Structure Fires (A-shift)

Two structure fires on opposite sides of the county keep firefighters busy Friday, 17-December. The first fire occurred at 16047 ACE Basin Parkway at 12:12, in a single story block structure. Engine 2 arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves of the building. Firefighters deployed one 1-3/4 handline to make entry on the structure. Click here for additional information.

 

12/17/2010- Tractor Trailer Fire (A-shift)

Stations 17, 19, 26, and 27 responded to a tractor trailer fire on I-95 at the 64 mile marker southbound Friday morning 17-December. Multiple 9-1-1 calls reported the well involved truck fire. Lieutenant Campbell in Car 119 arrived to find heavy fire conditions at the rear of the truck and in the loaded trailer. He requested additional units for tenders for water supply and manpower. 12/16/2010- Paramedic Graduation

Firefighter-EMTs TJ Brown and Bryon Eadon graduated from Paramedic School Thursday afternoon 16-December. Both attended Rescue Training Inc’s Paramedic Program in Savannah Georgia. The seven month long course was conduct at the school’s campus with clinical training held at various EMS systems and hospitals. Click here for additional information.

 

12/13/2010- Station 23 Christmas Dinner

St. 23 held it's annual Christmas Dinner and Firefighter of the Year presentation at Rizers Pork and Produce on Monday evening December 13. Represented at the dinner were all St 23 members as well as Bill Bowers our House of Representative for District 120. Representative Bowers spoke and thanked each member for what they do to help as volunteer firefighters. Firefighter of the Year award was presented by Capt Doug Mixson, Jr. to Lt. 12/09/2010- RIT Training Announcement

Two Rapid Intervention Team trainings will be held at Station 19 in January and February.  The first training will be held on January 10, 11, and 12 during daytime hours.  Click here to view the training class flyer for the second training offering which will be held in February during evening and weekend hours in an attempt to accommodate as many schedules as possible.  For further information or if you have any questions, please contact the training division at 538-6849.

12/09/2010- MVC w/Entrapment & Air Evacuation (B-shift)

Stations 1, 5, 19 and 26 responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Jefferies Highway (US Hwy 15) and Augusta Highway (SC Hwy61) [Canadys Crossroads] Thursday morning 9-December at 0945. Initial reports indicated five people were injured, however only one patient required medical treatment. A full sized pickup truck and a Cadillac sedan collided in the intersection. 12/09/2010- Car versus Cow MVC (A-shift)

A 54 year old woman received minor injuries this morning when her car collided with an adult cow on Sniders Highway near O’Quinn Lane Thursday morning 9-December at 0632. The accident occurred just before sunrise on the rural highway. The eastbound small car received heavy damage in the collision when the cow rolled over the roof of the car. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and her air bags did deploy.  Click here for more info.

 

12/08/2010- Structure Fire (C-shift)

An early morning house fire destroyed a home at 14209 Round O Road Wednesday morning 8-December. At 0331, 9-1-1 Operators received a report of the fire, where the caller stated the home had already burned to the ground, but a nearby barn was endangered. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find the remains of a one story wood frame structure which was completely destroyed. Click here for additional information.

 

12/07/2010- Traumatic Injury with Air Evacuation (C-shift)

A hunter who fell approximately 30 feet from a tree, received multiple traumatic injuries Tuesday evening 7-December. At 21:56 9-1-1 Operators received a call reporting the incident. According to a witness, the man’s friends had spent nearly five hours searching for him, finding him injured deep in the woods off of the 7500 block of Round O Road. 12/07/2010- MVC with Entrapment (C-shift)

A 30 year old man was transported to Colleton Medical Center with trauma injuries following a high speed crash in the 2800 block of Heirs Corner Road Tuesday afternoon 7-December at 1329. Witnesses stated the man possibly suffered a medical emergency while driving southbound on the two lane secondary road. Click here for additional information.

 

12/03/2010- Burn injury with Air Evacuation (C-shift)

A 20 year old man is in critical condition in the Augusta Burn Center following an explosion at an Augusta Highway residence Saturday evening. The incident was reported at 23:39 3-December at 6953 Augusta Highway. Witnesses told firefighters the man was pouring gasoline into a burn barrel when the 5 gallon plastic gas container exploded setting the man’s clothing ablaze. 12/02/2010- Structure Fire (A-shift)

A vacant home was destroyed by fire in the Jacksonboro Community Thursday evening, 2-December at 18:26. A passerby reported to 9-1-1 Operators that the building had burned and was almost burned out. The home is located on a small dirt road in an isolated area. Engine 2 arrived to find the one story block building completely destroyed. Click here for additional information.
