March 2014

3/31/2014- Important Radio System Upgrades
Starting on March 31, 2014 through April 11, 2014 Palmetto 800 will be conducting their yearly system wide upgrade.
The primary upgrade that will affect our area will occur on Tuesday April 1, 2014. There will be two state wide system outages. The first one will start around 2100 hours and the second will start around 2300 hours. These outages could last up to 30 minutes but may last only 5 minutes. During these outages dispatch will be operating in a site trunking mode. We will be in “Storm Mode”. What this means is that dispatch will only have the CCFR Dispatch Talk group to operate on during this time frame and will not be able to send alerts to the units in the field.
The staffed stations 1, 6, 9, 13, 18, 19 and 26 will need to monitor the radio on the Fire-Rescue Dispatch talk group during this time frame because the station radio will not alert.
The units on Edisto Island will need to use 8 SC TAC 2 (which is located in the conventional zone in the base station and zone D in their portables) or a cell phone to communicate with dispatch.
The Code Messaging/CAD Page system will not be effected.
