28/July/2023- SCDOT Temporary Road Closure Announcement

A temporary road closure (all lanes blocked) on Scuffletown Road (S-15-190) in Colleton County from Sniders Hwy (SC-63) to Brick Road (S-15-262). This closure will be in place starting Monday July 31st, 2023, at 8 am and ending on Friday evening August 4th, 2023, at 5 pm. This time frame is a target and may be delayed or advanced due to weather and/or field conditions. SCDOT – Colleton Maintenance crews will be performing repairs to a crossline pipe on this section of the roadway. Access to and from the homes and property in the affected area will only be available from the southern end of Scuffletown Road. No traffic will be allowed to enter Scuffletown Road from SC-63. Please utilize Fire Hill Road (S-15-191) and Brick Road (S-15-262) as an alternate route. Detour signs will be in place to help guide motorist.

26/July/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

At 01:53, Wednesday morning 26-July, 9-1-1 began receiving reports from passing motorists that a home was on fire in the 2600 block of Sniders Hwy. approximately 1 mile west of I-95. The residence was located well off of the roadway down a long poorly maintained dirt driveway. The flames could be seen above the trees. Engine 1 arrived minutes later and had trouble accessing the scene. They located a second driveway, which was also in poor condition, but was able to reach the residence. The double wide mobile home was fully involved and the roof had already collapsed. Click here for additional information.
24/July/2023 - MVC with Entrapment - "B" Shift

An adult male received critical injuries in a single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 55 mile marker northbound, Monday morning 24-July at 06:36. The northbound Ford pickup truck left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck several trees in the median. The truck received heavy damage and the unrestrained driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man while he was still in the vehicle and used Holmatro Hydraulic Rescue Tools to extricate the man. Click here for additional information.
24/July/2023 - Shooting Incident - "B" Shift

An adult male received a gunshot wound to the leg during an altercation in the 100 block of Ross Ave Monday morning 24-July. 9-1-1 received reports of the incident at 03:33. Sheriff's Deputies secured the scene and the man was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. He was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 19. The incident is being investigated by the Colleton County Sheriff's Office. 23/July/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A teenager's quick actions help prevent additional damage to a mobile home Sunday morning 23-July. At 11:01 the 15 year old noticed a fire near an electrical outlet in a bedroom at his family's mobile home located in the 2200 block of Pynes Community Road. He closed the door to the bedroom and cut off the power to the home, then called 9-1-1. A passing motorist also called 9-1-1 reporting fire coming from a window at the residence. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes laters and quickly doused the remaining fire in the bedroom. Click here for more.  
18/July/2023 - High Speed MVC - "A" Shift

Three teenagers were seriously injured in a single vehicle high speed MVC on Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) near Missiontown Road Tuesday evening 18-August at 21:13. Another motorist reported the car in the ditch. Medic 19 and Engine 19 arrived to find a Kia Soul in the woods against a tree. The small car suffered heavy front end damage. Two unrestrained 15 yr old patients suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The partially restrained 18 yr old driver also suffered injuries. 16-July-2023 - Electrocution - "B" Shift

A 35 yr old man died as a result of a possible electrocution at a residence in the 400 block of Player Lane near Ruffin Sunday afternoon 16-July. At 15:24, the man and a friend were moving an appliance when the man reportedly received an electrical shock and fell to the ground unresponsive. Family members immediately began performing correct and adequate CPR until Ruffin area volunteer firefighters arrived a short time later. Fire-Rescue Medic 18 arrived shortly thereafter and advanced resuscitative efforts followed. Click here for additional information.
13/July/2023 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A singlewide mobile home received substantial damage during an early morning fire at 49 Heavy Feather Lane in the Creeltown Community Thursday morning 13-July at 00:49. Engine 9 arrived to find the residence with smoke and flames coming from the southend of the building. Crews deployed two handlines to the building and quickly knocked down the fire which involved two rooms. The fire had entered the void space above the living area and traveled the entire length of the mobile home. Firefighters had to pull the ceilings in every room to reach the flames burning above the ceiling. Click here for additional information. 
7/12/2023- We offer congratulations to and are very proud of Captain Jack Wimberly who just graduated from Waldorf University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Captain Wimberly majored in Fire Science Administration and graduated Summa Cum Laude ("With the Highest Distinction") awarded to those graduating with a 3.9 to 4.0 GPA.  Captain Wimberly is assigned to the 1/6/13 platoon on C-shift.
12/July/2023 - RV Fire - "A" Shift

A family of two was displaced after the RV they used as a  residence was destroyed in a fire Wednesday afternoon 12-July. At 13:15, 9-1-1 received a report of the fire in the 500 block of Rowe Lane north of Round O Crossroads. The caller advised a camper used as a residence was on fire. Engine 9 arrived to find the older model recreational vehicle fully involved. The RV was located well off of the road in a wooded area. A nearby vehicle as well as a great deal of debris was also on fire. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported during the incident. 03/July/2023 - MVC with Ejection - "A" Shift

A 16 yr male was critically injured in a single vehicle roll-over accident in approximately the 2500 block of Dry Branch Road east of the Town of Lodge Monday evening 03-July at 18:03. The pickup truck was traveling south on Dry Branch Rd when it left the roadway and flipped over. The 16 yr old driver was ejected from the truck and received multiple traumatic injuries. A 13 yr old male was also in the vehicle and received non-life threatening injuries. Click here for additional information.
02/July/2023 - Dog Mauling - "C" Shift

A two year old male was severely injured after being mauled by several pit bulls at a residence in the 100 block of Riva Ridge Lane near Ions Cross Crossroads. According to witnesses, the dogs entered the yard and attacked the child dragging him across the yard. The child suffered multiple lacerations. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the boy at the scene, then transported him emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC. Click here for additional information.
02/July/2023 - Fatal Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Colleton County Fire-Rescue and the Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 700 block of Folly Creek Lane in the Green Pond Community in southern Colleton County Sunday morning 02-July at 10:47. A neighbor reported seeing the home on fire. Arriving units found a single family dwelling well involved. The roof on one end had already collapsed and fire was visible from the remaining roof and several windows. An injured female was found at the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics and Sheriff's Deputies provided aid to her and a medical helicopter was requested.  Click here for additional information.
