13/January/2026 - Condolences The Fire-Rescue Department expresses condolences to Firefighter-Paramedic Caila Peeler on the loss of her grandmother, Mrs. Carolene McCall Stallings of Maiden, North Carolina. Mrs. Stallings passed away on January 11 at the age of 87 years young. Please keep Firefighter-Paramedic Peeler and her family in your prayers. 10/January/2026 - MVC with Entrapment & Air Evac An adult male was injured in a single vehicle, high speed MVC at the intersection of Powder Horn Rd and Can City Rd Saturday evening 10-Jan at 21:43. The passenger car drove through the "T" intersection and entered the woods driving approx. 30 feet into the woods. The car went down an embankment and flipped over on its roof, trapping the driver. First arriving Firefighter-Paramedics could speak to the man, but could not reach him. Crews used a chainsaw to remove brush from around the car. Click here for additional information. |

10/January/2026 - Woods/Shed Fire - "C" Shift A woods fire damaged approximately eight acres and a shed at a residence in the 13800 block of Mount Carmel Road south of Smoaks Saturday afternoon 10-Jan at 15:44. Engine 7 and Engine 18 arrived to find the fast moving woods fire. Dry conditions and winds quickly spread the fire. Engine 7 requested additional resources and a Tractor from the Forestry Commission. Crews were able to keep the flames from reaching within feet of a double wide mobile home on the property. 03/January/2026 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift A passing motorist reported a building fire at the intersection of Hendersonville Hwy (US Hwy 17-A) and Ritter Road Saturday evening 03-January at 19:09. Engine 1 arrived to find the single story building well involved. It was located well off of the road. The building was an addition to an older camper. No one was at home when the fire occurred. Firefighters deployed two handlines to the building and entered the structure through the front door. Click here for additional information. |
