30/May/2024 - Truck Fire - "C" Shift

A mobile home moving truck was destroyed on Charleston Hwy (SC Hwy 64) near Rodeo Drive Thursday afternoon 30-May at 13:40. Engine 26 arrived to find the truck with the cab well involved. The truck was pulling a singlewide mobile home and had one lane of Charleston Hwy blocked. Crews deployed one handline to extinguish the fire. The heat melted some of the vinyl siding on the front of the mobile home, but the mobile home did not appear to have sustained any additional damage. Click here for additional information. 
30/May/2024 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

A small residential structure was destroyed in an early morning fire in the 100 block of Turner Ln south of Cottageville Thursday morning 30-May. At 05:06, a passing motorist notified 9-1-1 that the building was burning. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find the single story home completely destroyed. The entire structure had already collapsed and was almost burned out. The structure had apparently been burning unnoticed for some time. Firefighters deployed two hanlines to extinguish the remaining fire. Water supply was conducted using Tenders. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Click here for additional information.
27/May/2024 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

A Corvette and Honda Accord collided in a curve in the 9000 block of Charleston Hwy just east of Neyles Crossroads Monday night at 22:31. The driver of the westbound Corvette was not injured, however the driver of the eastbound Honda suffered multiple traumatic injuries. His vehicle received heavy front end damage and was in the ditch. The Corvette spun multiple times and was near Maybank Lane, leaving a large debris field. The accident blocked the eastbound lane for about 2 hours. Click here for additional information.
23/May/2024 - EMS Week Luncheon at Colleton Medical Center

Colleton Medical Center hosted a luncheon to honor Prehospital Care Providers as part of National EMS Week Thursday, 23-May. A luncheon was provided, which was held in the Administrative Board Room. CMC CEO Jimmy Hiott, CNO Dr. Mellissa Feather as well as several other administrative staff attended and enjoyed a meal with those volunteer and career personnel who were able to attend. 22/May/2024 - Fatal MVC with Entrapment - "C" Shift

A truck driver was killed in a single vehicle MVC on I-95 at the McLeod Road overpass Wednesday morning 22-May. 9-1-1 received one report of the accident at 06:35. The Mack truck had been traveling southbound when it left the roadway at a high rate of speed. The truck drove down an embankment, entered the wooded median and struck several trees, flipping over several times. The vehicle received extensive damage. The male driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was trapped in the crushed cab. Click here for additional information.
21/May/2024 - Fatal MVC - "C" Shift

An adult male died from injuries received in a slow speed MVC in the parking lot of Budget Tire in the 1400 block of Hampton Street Tuesday morning 21-May at 09:15. It appears the vehicle was backing up when the driver fell out of the pickup truck and suffered critical traumatic injuries. The truck made a U-turn, drove through a hedge, struck a large sign which ripped the drivers door from the truck and then struck a parked pickup truck before stopping at a second hedge. Congratulations to Engineer/Paramedic Tony Keen for passing his Engineer examination earlier this month. 19/May/2024 - MVC with Ejection - "A" Shift

An adult female received multiple traumatic injuries in a single vehicle roll-over accident in the 1500 block of White Hall Road Sunday evening 19-May at 19:42. The southbound bound Honda failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch at a high rate of speed and flipped over at least three times. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the car. Bystanders provided aid to the injured woman following the accident. Firefighter-Paramedics found the patient lying in the ditch. Click here for additional information.
18/May/2024 - Fatal Incident - "B" Shift

Incident # 24-03854 - Fire-Rescue and Sheriff's Deputies responded to Hayden Street at 03:08 Saturday morning 18-May. Firefighter/Paramedics found two adults and one juvenile deceased.  The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the homicide and are seeking information concerning a vehicle of interest (silver Cadillac with temporary license plate). They are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Office at 843-549-2211 
10/May/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A neighbor alerted 9-1-1 to a building that was on fire at 8178 Rehoboth Road (SC Hwy 651) Friday evening 10-May at 21:16. Engine 36 arrived minutes later to find the single story wood frame residence well involved. They reported the roof had already collapsed, indicating the building had been on fire for some time. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to the building and had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes. Units were on the scene for two hours performing overhaul. 09/May/2024 - Fatal MVC - "C" Shift

A single vehicle accident occurred in the 800 block of North Jefferies Blvd, Thursday afternoon 09-May at 15:50. A northbound Chevrolet Blazer crossed onto the southbound shoulder, left the roadway and struck a tree and power pole. The adult male driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was unconscious in the vehicle. Responders from Fire-Rescue and the City of Walterboro treated the man at the scene, then transported him emergent to Colleton Medical Center. Click here for more information.
06/May/2024 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

Three people were injured, one critically, after two vehicles collided on Cottageville Hwy (US Hwy 17-A) at McDanieltown Road Monday afternoon 07-May at 17:54. The accident occurred during a severe thunderstorm. Two Fire-Rescue ambulances responded to the incident. Firefighter-Paramedics treated all three patients at the scene. Two patients were transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston by Medic 9. The third patient was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 19. Traffic was blocked at the intersection for about 30 minutes. Click here for additional information.
03/May/2023 - Condolences

Fire-Rescue offers condolences to the Gooding family with the loss of Nancy Gooding, who passed away at Trident Medical Center Thursday, 02-May. Mrs. Nancy is the wife of Firefighter Buddy Gooding and mother to Lt. Chris Gooding, both of Stations 3 and 23. Visitation will be held from 18:00 to 20:00 at Brice Herndon Funeral Home, 1193 Bells Hwy, in Walterboro, Saturday, 04-May. Funeral services will commence at 1400 on Sunday 05-May. The service will be held at Carters Ford Baptist Church, 6507 Lodge Highway in Lodge, SC. Please remember the Gooding family in your prayers.

02/May/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

Three people were injured, two critically after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Jefferies Hwy (US Hwy 15) and Pleasant Grove Road. The accident occurred Thursday morning 02-May at 06:07 during heavy fog. Visibility was limited at less than a few hundred feet. The southbound utility truck was struck by a west bound pickup truck. The utility truck then struck an embankment and came to rest in the cemetery at Pleasant Grove Church. The pickup truck overturned on the highway. Click here for additional information.
