26/July/2024 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift A single vehicle, high speed MVC sent one man to a Trauma Center Friday evening 26-July. At 21:01, two volunteer firefighters who were returning home when they drove up on the accident. As they rounded a curve, there was a heavily damaged white Honda Accord in the middle of the roadway. Debris littered the scene. Upon inspection, they discovered an unconscious man in the driver's seat. The driver regained consciousness just prior to the ambulance arriving. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. Click here for additional information. |

25/July/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift At 07:24 Thursday morning 25-July, a Honda Accord traveling southbound on I-95, swerved to avoid a tire in the road. The driver lost control, then struck a guard rail and entered the wooden median. The adult female driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was trapped in the car due to the damage. Firefighter-Paramedics used a chainsaw to cut away debris to gain access to the driver's side of the car. They then used Holmatro Pentheon Rescue Tools to remove the driver's door. 23/July/2024 - Road Closure Ritter Road is closed between Hendersonville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) and White Hall Road for bridge repair. Medic 6 and Station # 22 will need to cover the White Hall Community as this area will have limited accessibility from Stations 8 or 13. SCDOT advises the repair to the bridge may take as little as 3 days, but could be much longer. They will know further when they begin repairs. Please plan accordingly. |

20/July/2024 - High Speed MVC - "B" Shift An adult male was seriously injured in a single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 48 mile marker NB, just north of the Rest Area. The northbound Kenworth vacuum truck suffered a front tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control of the large vehicle. The truck left the highway, driving down the right shoulder, but overturned as it began to reenter the roadway. The truck came to rest on its side, blocking 1-1/2 lanes. The highway was down to one lane for several hours, causing traffic to back up several miles. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered multiple, non-life threatening injuries. 18/July/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift A Community Ave residence was heavily damaged in an evening fire Thursday night 18-July. At 22:47, 9-1-1 was notified of the fire, with the caller advising the fire started on the stove. All occupants had safely exited the structure. Engine 7 arrived to find smoke coming from the singlewide mobile home. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one handline to the building and made entry through the front door. Crews found the fire in the kitchen which was located in the center of the mobile home. They quickly extinguished the fire containing it to the area of the kitchen, saving the home and most of the belongings. Click here for additional information. |

17/July/2024 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift A fire occurred in a restaurant located at 10476 Cottageville Hwy in the Town of Cottageville, Wednesday afternoon 17-July at 14:11. The business was not open at the time of the fire. Callers to 9-1-1 reported smoke coming from the roof of the structure. Engine 9 arrived to find smoke and flames extending from the exterior electrical box and weatherhead. Firefighter-Paramedics made entry through the front door and found smoke inside the structure. 15/July/2024 - EMT Certification We congratulate Firefighter-EMT Garrick Barb for successfully passing the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician exam. Garrick Barb is currently assigned to the day shift at Station # 13. He is the son of Firefighter-Paramedic Dan Barb on the Station 9, 19, 20 rotation. |

13/July/2024 - Hospital Assist - "B" Shift Multiple Fire-Rescue Units assisted at Colleton Medical Center Saturday 13-July. Late in the evening Friday the hospital's A/C system failed. CMC initiated their emergency plans and additional staff responded to resolve the problem working through the night and early morning. At 07:30 they requested fans while the maintenance staff worked on the large A/C units. Fire-Rescue rounded up over a dozen high capacity fans, while the hospital staff purchased additional fans locally. Stand alone A/C units were also obtained to be placed throughout the facility. 13/July/2024 - Woods Fire Assist Fire-Rescue units have been assisting the Forestry Commission with the large woods fire off of Big Hill Road in the Foster's Bay area east of Ruffin. The fire was originally dispatched on 03-July involving approximately 115 acres. County Firefighters and Forestry units were able to contain the fire, but due to dry conditions, the fire has jumped the fire lines in several places expanding to approximately 150 acres. The Forestry Commission has a large contingent of equipment and personnel at the site including tractors, brush units and fire tracks from around the region. Click here for additional information. |

11/July/2024 - Shooting Incident - "C" Shift An adult male received multiple gunshot wounds in a shooting incident in the 800 block of Van Dyke Road north of Cottageville, Thursday night 11-July at 23:07. Sheriff's Deputies secured the scene while Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man for his injuries. He was found in critical condition. Crews administered life saving whole blood and transported him emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. 09/July/2024 - MVC with Entrapment & Air Evac - "A" Shift A two vehicle head-on collision in the 9700 block of Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21) south of Cane Branch Rd, critically injured three people, Tuesday afternoon 09-July. At 16:37, 9-1-1 received several reports of the accident. A northbound Chevrolet pickup and a southbound Lexus collided, heavily damaging both vehicles and trapping the occupants of the Lexus. Two Fire-Rescue ambulances were assigned to the incident, with a third being added when 9-1-1 callers advised of additional patients. Click here for additional information. |

08/July/2024 - Birth Announcement We congratulate Firefighter-Paramedic Storm Hadwin and his wife Allison, on the birth of their son, Grayson Cole Hadwin. He was born on 08-July at 07:51. Grayson weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz and was 21 inches. Both Grayson and his mom are doing fine. |

06/July/2024 - MVC with Air Evac - "C" Shift An adult male was seriously injured in a single vehicle MVC on I-95 at the 60 mile marker northbound, Saturday morning 06-July at 02:38. A semi-truck hauling produce dropped off of the shoulder at a high rate of speed and lost control. The truck overturned partially blocking one lane of I-95. Fire-Rescue crews arrived a short time later and extricated the male driver through the windshield. He was treated at the scene, then transported emergent to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. Click here for more information. |

04/July/2024 - MVC - "A" Shift An adult male was seriously injured in a single vehicle MVC on Green Pond Hwy (SC Hwy 303) at Windy Hill Lane Thursday morning 04-July at 06:15. The southbound car left the roadway in a curve and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck a tree stump and flipped over several times, landing on the wheels. The driver received multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated him at the scene, then transported him emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 6 to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. No medical helicopters could fly due to fog. The SC highway Patrol is investigating the MVC. Click here for additional information. |

03/July/2024 - 115 Acre Woods Fire - "A" Shift Fire-Rescue responded to a 115 acre woods fire on Big Hill Road off of Ruffin Road Wednesday afternoon 03-July at 18:23. Engine 26 arrived to find the fast moving woods fire and requested additional units and the Forestry Commission. Firefighters positioned apparatus to protect homes on Ruffin Road while other units worked to cut off the head of the fire. The Forestry Commission responded with four tractors and two supervisors. The tractors were able to cut off the flames and contain the fire. No damage was reported to any homes. Click here for additional information. |
