07/March/2025 - Life Saving Awards

Firefighter-Paramedic Robert Jennings and Firefighter-EMT Tyler Allen received the Curtis P. Artz Award for Valor during the Awards Ceremony held at the SC EMS Conference at Myrtle Beach Friday evening 07-March at 17:00. Both were recognized for their heroic actions in June of last year when they responded to a person in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. They recognized the woman was in trouble and donned life vests. They swam out to the woman who was caught in a rip current and were able to pull her back to shore. Click here for more information.
06/March/2025 - Shooting Incident - "A" Shift

An adult male was shot in the foot during an incident in the 700 block of Glen Street Thursday evening 06-March at 19:00. The man received a non-life threatening injury and was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. He was transported to the ED at Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information.
 05/March/2025- Condolences

The Fire-Rescue Department offers condolences to Firefighters Hal Causey and Bryan Henderson and their family on the passing of their mother, Fay Adeline Henderson. Ms. Henderson passed away 28-February at her home in Vernal Utah. Blackburn Vernal Mortuary is handling the arrangements. The funeral service was held 05-March.  Please remember them in your prayers.

05/March/2025 - High Speed MVC - "A" Shift

An adult male was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center following a high speed MVC on I-95 near the 41 mile marker southbound Wednesday morning 05-March at 04:20. The southbound semi-truck left the roadway and entered the median where it struck several trees. The cab was torn from the frame and overturned. The driver suffered multiple injuries. He was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics prior to transport. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC. Click here for additional information.
04/March/2025 - Shooting Incident - "B" Shift

An adult male received a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg during an incident at a residence in the 4600 block of Sniders Hwy Tuesday evening 04-March at 19:07. The man was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics then transported to Colleton Medical Center. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Click here for additional information.  

02/March/2025 - Auto Pedestrian MVC - "C" Shift

Sunday evening 02-March at 21:10, an adult female was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck on Charleston Hwy (SC Hwy. 64) at the intersection of Sandy Dam Lane. The woman was wearing dark clothing and there were no street lights in the area. The driver of the truck stopped and rendered aid . Firefighter-Paramedics found the woman lying in the ditch near the wood line. She complained of multiple injuries and was treated at the scene. Click here for additional information.
02/March/2025 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

At 18:21, while returning to their station from a previous response, Medic 18 observed a thick column of black smoke several miles away in the distance. They notified Battalion 1 that they would be attempting to locate the source of the smoke. After approximately ten minutes, they found a fully involved doublewide mobile home at the end of Valiant Lane south of Sniders Crossroads. The home was at the dead end of the small dirt road about a 1/4 of a mile off of Scuffletown Road. A structural response was dispatched to the location. Click here for additional information.
01/March/2025 - Woods Fire - "B" Shift

An approximately 7 acre woods fire endangered eight homes Saturday 01-March. At 12:49 a residence on Calloh Drive reported the fast moving woods fire. Dry conditions and high winds quickly spread the fire through heavy woods toward homes located on nearby Cottonwood Lane. Engine 19 arrived and requested additional assistance along with the Forestry Commission. Crews and apparatus positioned to protect homes on Cottonwood Lane. The Forestry Commission responded with two brush trucks and a tractor. Click here for additional information.
01/March/2025 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

A Smoaks family was displaced following an early morning fire in their home in the 1600 block of Cherokee Drive north of the Town of Smoaks Saturday morning 01-March. At 04:47, the family was awakened to the fire which had already burned into the roof. They were able to safely exit the residence and notify 9-1-1. Engine 7 arrived minutes later to find the home well involved with flames coming through the roof. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed handlines and made an attack on the flames, stopping the fire from reaching rooms on the south end of the building. Click here for additional information.
